Let’s move into the day’s successes and failures:
SUCCESS! Being invited by Jennifer to be a roomie at BlogHer this year. I’ve never been, and I got specifically invited by someone online that I would love to meet. Who would like to sleep in the same place as me. And be forced to share the same bathroom. This is the biggest excitement/compliment ever.
SUCCESS! My father said he’d accompany me to Comic Con this summer, all the way out in San Diego. He’s been there several times already (the city, not the convention), and was eager to show me around.
FAILURE. BlogHer and Comic Con are on the exact same days. So, I’m kind of torn between my lifetime dream (COMIC CON!) and the prospect of meeting at least one, but likely many, people I’ve been reading about online for years.
SUCCESS! My pastor is baptizing his son this weekend, and asked me to capture it. On Facebook. That’s how we roll in my church. TECHNOLOGICALLY.
FAILURE. My house is trashed and Sharman will be here in 36 hours.
SUCCESS! Sharman will come on a cloudy day, so it won’t look so bad. Heh. Also, Sharman is coming!
FAILURE. My town does free Santa calls, and tonight Santa was supposed to call Eli. But I forgot, and we went out for ice cream instead. Epic holiday fail.
FAILURE. Addie has added high fevers to her night terrors.
SUCCESS! She is at least accepting medicine without a slap-fight.
SUCCESS! My mother is visiting between Christmas and New Year’s, and she is going to help me get this house turned around. Garage cleaned, possible painting and bookcases built in. Maybe we’ll do the office. Who knows. Either way, I know things will look better and be more efficient when she leaves, and we’ll have a blast in the meantime.
SUCCESS! My dad is in Iowa, and there is a restaurant called the Flying Wienie. I want a shirt so bad. Currently, this isn’t actually a success, just a Fond Hope.
SUCCESS! Knocking ‘Zombiefighter’ out of the park, dude. Twenty more pages today.
SUCCESS! Finally got to watch ‘Secret Millionaire’. Is awesome. And then a commercial came on for St. Jude’s, and Ellie was in it alongside Jennifer Aniston. My jaw actually dropped. (She is absolutely radiant, Colleen.)
FAILURE. Gained at least half the weight back I lost. Which is what happens when you brag. Wah wah.
SUCCESS SLASH FAILURE. My ad contract is being changed up. Basically, I’ll be making less money and be paid less frequently. I’m very seriously thinking about scrapping the ads on the site altogether, which would be really liberating. I’m looking at that as a positive. I don’t really need the money, and I hate the ads, so maybe it’s time to call it a day.
SUCCESS! Added another hour of Christmas music to the office party playlist. AND I managed to pick songs that cover every person’s requests (rock, country, rap, jazz, indie, folk, classic Christmas, pop) without just snapping, You are all getting ‘Funky Cold Medina’ on a loop and YOU WILL LIKE IT.
SUCCESS! I just got off the phone with Michelle, and we were talking about– something, who knows, and for some reason she said, “You know how I do,” and I was all, “Play on, playa.” Pause. Together: “NO DIGGITY, NO DOUBT.” YES. CLASSIC.
FAILURE. The lyrics are not, “Play on, playa.” They are: “Play on, play THAT.” Whatever. My version is better.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with listening to ‘Funky Cold Medina’ on a loop for many hours!
I wish my town did santa calls. I had to pay for one from a company that does it for my daughter. Damn. At least you have more successes than fails.
My mom helps me with my house too. What would we do without mommies!
Haha, I thought “No Diggity, No Doubt” before I even read to that point.
blogher! blogher!
because I AM GOING TO BE THERE!
I love when churches embrace technology. Jesus wouldn’t have a sparkly and blinking website and he totally gets Web 2.0.
I’m so wiggly about reading Zombiefighter. Are you opening it up for any readers anytime soon?
And I’ve seen the Ellie – St. Jude commercial many times now. Wow. She IS a beautiful little girl.
I got the email from Blogher too and I decided no more ads. Bleck. I don’t mind seeing them on someone else’s site (unless they are blinking and sparkling, like I already mentioned, hehe) though. Just my 2 cents.
every time I hear “No Diggity” ALL I can think about is that crazy night we decided to go “clubbing” when I turned 18.
Sigh.
Love ya.
Twenty pages in a day? You are my hero.
*sings no diggity, no doubt* … oh, lord. how i used to think that some was the epitome of awesome dance songs.
well, you TOTALLY know what my vote is on the BlogHer/ComicCon debate
hehe But I’ll try not to sway you… (BLOGHER BLOGHER BLOGHER!!!!!!!!)
I’m totally yaying the Personal Jesus. I used to rock out to that song with Michelle. =)
crap! I always thought it said, ‘Play on, play out’ which is equally wrong. I love No Diggity. Notice that I didn’t say loved but love. Also, I’m going to Blogher 2009. I can’t wait!
Santa calls?! That’s too cool. Too bad you missed it!
Haha I always thought it was “play on, playa” too!
I am from Iowa and never heard of the Flying Wienie restaurant and it’s only an hour and a half away from me. I will have to visit it since I will be in Cedar Rapids Monday.
YOU LIE. Tell me it’s “Play on, playa!” or I will be heartbroken for ever.
