What's good in the hood.

Our neighbors are moving. The family with Madison, Cameron, and McKenzie– Madison is the older woman Elias thinks he’s boyfriend to. I just lent the mother my copy of “Middlesex”, which is a hefty novel, and didn’t expect to get it back for a few months. It’s so out of the blue. We just noticed yesterday that there was a For Sale By Owner sign in the side yard. This is, like, high drama– the neighborhood rumor mill is working overtime. Heh. The most popular one is that it’s a matter of trying to get into the right middle school district. I told Erin, who called the number listed on the sign. “They’re asking X25,000,” she informed me, which was basically $25,000 more than I expected. I’m kind of curious to see if they get it. That would be the only upside to this; finding out our home value climbed that much.
That’s been the main lame news, and sadly the only news I can share just yet. The other news– the way bigger, more awesome, super fantastic I-screamed-when-I-heard news– that’s coming around Monday, after the person involved has a chance to tell all family and friends in person. It’s GOOD, though. It’s worth waiting for. TRUST ME.
Re: work. Elias has been recruited by Jared, who lives down on the corner, to assist in a yard sale. This is kind of the most adorable thing that has ever happened, because Eli is many things, but a salesman ain’t one of them. Three to five of the local boys have been holed up in Jared’s garage every day this week, cataloging items and working out shifts. The yard sale will not be THIS Saturday, they told me, but the FOLLOWING Saturday. And there will be cake. Elias is most excited about the cake. They seem to be selling primarily action figures and knick-knacks, and the only people I can see that would be interested in buying them are the salesmen themselves.
I’ve started looking for work myself. Jason stumbled across a want ad for a WordPress theme designer, which I applied for (and if the hiring agency ends up here: hi!). We’re actually doing pretty well financially, but a lightbulb went over my head the other day that instead of just cutting down on spending, we could be focusing on gaining. There’s really no reason I can’t work from home. Web design is such a great field in that it can be done anywhere from a computer, in any environment, and it can easily be done with children running around– I can always break for lunchtime and playing. It’ll be nice to add to my portfolio, too, because I’m hoping to go back fulltime when Addie goes into kindergarten. I’d been debating whether to pursue my degree or just jump into a career, and I think I’m leaning toward career. I might throw some night school on top of that later, but anyone who knows me knows I’m not very education-oriented. I’m mostly experience-oriented. Heh.
Okay, have to cut this short– ‘Last Comic Standing’ is on! I’ve only started watching this season, and I’m actually really into it. Jeff Dye’s quick trip through through Your Favorite Movies was awesome (drawn-on ’300′ chest FTW), but I’m rooting for Iliza. Once she busted out the Oregon Trail references, it was over.
Also:
Whatever. She’s so cute.
Also, again: “This is a really scattered story, man.” = best Kendra line. ever.

That would be a great job for you I think. I am trying to find work currently too. I don’t have children of course so I need to be working because it is just too weird to be only a house wife. I am hoping to find a job working from home though when I do have kids. So good luck on the job hunt. She is a cutie btw.
How exciting! I have my fingers crossed that Michelle is pregnant, heh.
Oh, BECCA. For some reason, I’m reminded of how much I just love reading your site. Awesomeness! YAY!
That job sounds really good. I need to start looking for something too.
I’ve been watching Last Comic Standing too. I really like Iliza and Louis. As far as reality / contest shows go, it’s one of the better ones!
yeah i just started back up in the freelance thing, too. i hope you get the job!
Web design from home is The BOMB.
If you ever want to team up, let me know… I think you’re a great designer, and lately I’ve been thinking of possibly sub-contracting out work to ease my load a bit.
Also: IS THE NEWS ABOUT MICHELLE??????!! AAH!
I think the exciting news is Michelle’s pregnant or your brother is having twins (or more o_O )
Addie is so cute! Anything she does is cute.
I can’t wait to hear the NEWS! I keep going over things in my head, trying to guess what it might be. Hmm. Nope. I just hope you tell us soon.
I’m totally anticipating this news. LOL!! Addie = cutie. Such a lucky Momma
