Dear Becca: you suck.

Okay, so not last night but the night before, I had a foreboding dream. For some reason I was walking around a gym with Jason (ha ha– there’s the comedic bit!), and I went to check my e-mail, and I had about ten thousand messages. TEN THOUSAND. And all of them were like, “You got into the Best of Blogs? YOUR SITE ISN’T EVEN GOOD! PS: I hate your kids. And your dog. And your GRANDMOTHER.” And I was sitting on the elliptical machine, crying; all: “Why? What did I do? All I am is nice! I’M A NICE PERSON!”

(Elias had broken the dream vending machine in the background, and was eating whole bags of Cheetos. And then I cried because what kind of mother lets her kid eat nine hundred Cheetos?)

A few minutes ago, the finalists were posted– and yours truly was among them. To say I’m stoked is an understatement. To say I’m scared would be too. The increased traffic makes me nervous– a possibly larger audience. I know someday I’m going to start getting negative feedback, but I sort of hoped to put it off until I was– you know– dead.

The good news is I have absolutely NO CHANCE OF WINNING, and I’ll go on record saying that. I’m like the random newbie who got nominated for an Oscar, and I’m up against Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman, and I’m just excited at the opportunity to have my name alongside theirs.

A special thanks to all of you who nominated me. I know who you are, and you know who you are, and I’m sending much virtual love your way.

    First Congrats on making it to the finalists. I’m new here just because you made it! :)

    As for the inevitable nasty folks that turn up from time to time, just remember it’s only because they haven’t got anything better to do with their time.

    The rest of us can sit on our high horses and be proud that our mamas raised us right and if we don’t have anything nice to say we don’t say it at all. Afterall that’s what that little x in the corner is for right?

    I checked out your competition, and on each of the sites I’m seeing these “National De-Lurking Day/Week” banners. I had actually thought that it was time I left my first comment, so what better time than now, anyway? Congrats on being a nominee. In my honest opinion, your site is above and beyond the rest, and if you win I hope that it doesn’t change anything in the site. You are so smart and down to Earth, and that’s what keeps me coming back (well, all that and your little cuties!)

    Honestly Becca, I don’t know how you could ever possibly get negative feedback. All of your blogs are so sweet, entertaining, and though-provoking. Anyone who would ever leave you negative comments would have to be a complete nimrod.

    I’ve been reading since your first post after Addie was born because another one of my “dailies” have posted something in regards to sending best wishes your way due to what was going on with Addie. I’ve just decided to comment now for some reason, but I absolutely love your site! You’re one of those people that you could just hang out in your pajamas all night and have the best time ever doing absolutely nothing. You’re funny, pretty, upbeat, and a great mom/wife/friend/sister, etc! I definitely voted for you :) I read everyday, and I’m really starting to feel like I know you. Good luck!
